Overcoming Problems

Have you heard the rumor that walking by faith means that you will have no more problems?  Have you let the fact that you have experienced problems say that faith does not work?  If you have ever been discouraged by problems, have I got good news for you!

Let’s start by reading 2 scriptures that will help us.  1 Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” Now let’s read verses 20-21, “O Timothy, guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and vain babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge-by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.”

Notice that in the 20th verse Paul warns Timothy to guard what was committed to his trust.  In the 12th verse Paul says to fight the good fight of faith.  Guarding is protecting what is yours and if necessary to fight to keep it.  Notice the bible calls the fight of faith a good fight.  The good fights are the ones that are won! In every problem you are more than a conqueror.  The previous statement is taken from Romans 8:37 and specifically refers to adverse circumstances and problems that come our way.

What are we fighting for?  The answer to that question may surprise you. We fight to believe the Word that has been sown in our hearts.  It is a treasure and so valuable that we refuse to let go of our belief despite what outward circumstances say. How do you accomplish this?  By avoiding conversations that limit the solutions to human reasoning, we actively become partners with God.  Although you may be tempted by feelings, resist them.  Discipline your words and refuse to allow fear to dominate your belief.  Specifically the knowledge we are avoiding is contradictions to God’s Word.

I remember when a tick bit my son.  He contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted-Fever that was also misdiagnosed.  His condition worsened and hospitalization was required.  The prognosis we were given was that the disease had progressed to a point where death was a strong possibility!  But God’s Word told us that God was his healer and God promised that He would take sickness from our midst. (Ps. 103:3)  Our battle was to believe that God's promise of healing would manifest not the medical knowledge given to us.   By choice we proclaimed God was his healer.  Pastor Jeanne and I began to pray and spend time with the Lord who would solve this problem.  While Pastor Jeanne was praying, the Lord told her after some prayer, to curse the life in the organism and command it to die.  She spoke what God told her to speak and the next morning our son awoke totally healed. Our doctor declared this healing a bona fide miracle. Faith doesn’t mean that you avoid problems; it means you can have victory in all problems.  Your victory will come just as ours did when you fight to hold on to the promises and not yield to doubt and unbelief.   The fight of faith requires you to make a choice to agree with God.  When you do, you will overcome all the problems that come against you.

Problems are part of living.  God’s word is your answer.  Determine a new position in regard to problems:  your victory over them.  God bless!
