Pleasing God

Do you know what it takes to please God?  Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that   He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Pleasing God occurs through living in a right relationship with Him.  Faith is a product of a right relationship with God, the Father.  That relationship is based upon believing that God is and getting to know Him.  You become acquainted with God through the Word.  Romans 10:17 tells us, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  The Bible tells us all about God’s character, his likes, what He wants us to do, and what He will do through us.  It declares the person of God to everyone who reads it.  Faith grows as we believe what we hear.  Knowing our Father God becomes the foundation for trust.

To please Him you must spend time getting to know Him.  This means you should make an appointment with your Bible and read it.  Knowing Him means knowing His will.  Believing means that you put what you know into practice.  For example, the Bible says, “Do not fear”; so then you should always resist fear.  Hebrews 11:6 says that God wants to reward those who diligently seek Him.  He wants us to know about His goodness, mercy and grace.  He sent Jesus to show us of his sacrificial love for us.  Those who know His will and put it into practice will be rewarded. Therefore, the Word of God should have first place in our lives.  We need to develop an attitude of honor towards the Word and its importance in our lives.  We should look to the Word to direct us and reveal God to us for matters of life.

What is your conception of God?  Is He the one who authors the good or the disasters?  Does he restore or does He destroy?  Can you count on Him in times of trouble?  Will He let you down and be silent? The answers to those questions measure the quality of your faith in God.  A vital relationship is based upon trust and love working together for good.  God wants to bring benefits to your life so that He can bless you with His goodness.  That is His heart.

2 Peter 1:3 states, “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.”  Notice that our reward is all things that pertain to life and to godliness.  There is nothing that is left out of that statement.  But recognize that this comes through the knowledge of Jesus. How do we get that knowledge? We get it from the Word and it contains everything we need to answer all of life’s problems.

1 John 4:4-5 reveals that solving life’s problems is matter of faith.  Yes, faith is the victory that overcomes. This is true bible faith.  Give God a chance to work in your life.
